Box Score On the road at Anderson to start HCAC play, top-ranked Transy Women's Lacrosse posted a 20-4 win over the Ravens. They started strong with a 8-2 first quarter off of 10 draw controls. Defensively, they only allowed one goal in the second and fourth quarters, shutting out the third. Senior Abi Waldron recorded eight saves on the day and senior Lauren Arena picked up three groundballs. The Pioneers also caused eight Raven turnovers to give them more momentum and contribute toward their 20-24 clears.
The Pioneer offense was led by senior Abbey Peterson with six goals and four assists on the day. Sophomore Diana Bruder followed with three goals and one assist with four draw controls. Senior Sophia Sparks added three goals as well. Sophomore Charlotte Green earned seven draw controls, netted two, and assisted two goals against the Ravens. Sophomore Lula Thompson added two more for the Pioneers on two shots for a perfect 2-2. Senior Vianne Koshoffer (two assists), senior Abby Rau, and junior Linley Dawson also each added a goal to the high-scoring day.
Coach Bragg said of the game, "This was a fantastic way for us to start conference play. Our goal was to set the tone and focus on the controllables and we were able to do that! We had nine different goal scorers and 11 of our 20 goals were assisted. Defensively we had some fantastic caused turnovers that helped our attack score those goals. This was a team effort today!"
The Pioneers will play at home at Pat Deacon Stadium Wednesday night at 7:00 PM.
