Swim and Dive defeat both University of Pikeville and Midway University on Senior Day

Mackie Redford Breaks both 1 meter and 3 meter school dive record

LEXINGTON - The Men's and Women's Swim and Dive team competed Saturday as they took on both Midway and Pikeville. This day was extra special as it was Senior Day for 13 members of the Swim and Dive team, capped off by a Mackie Redford School record shattering performance.

The Pioneers honored were; CJ Wittry, Toren Hartog, Grace Vogel, Logan Thomas, Hannah Tapp, Mackie Redford, Delaney McPherson, Olivia Greinke, Morgan Green, Garrett Craycraft, William Darnell Stephen Root, and Jacob Young. 

In the Diving portion of today, Mackie Redford broke two school records. Previously in the Women's 1mtr dive, Amy McGurie (1998) held the record with 279.2 as Redford set a new 1mtr dive record at 289.05. Breaking the Women's 3mtr dive record, Redford broke Amy McGuire's (2001) 283.35 record with a 289.05.

Concluding the Dive portion, Garrett Craycraft would place first in the Men's 1mtr dive with a score of 310.65, then going on to place first in the Men's 3mtr dive with a score of 221.1. 

In the swimming portion of the day the Pioneers stacked up numerous wins placing first in 23 of the 26 swimming events. In Relay's the Pioneers would win the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay as Mary Grace Thompson, Olivia Greinke, Logan Thomas, and Hannah Tapp with a time of 1:57.88. In the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Mary Grace Thompson, Logan Thomas, Charlotte Green, and Hannah Tapp won with a time of 1:45.54.

In the Men's 200 Yard Medley Relay Kole Brannock, Isaiah Perkins, Lukas McIntyre-Quinn, and Jacob Young won with a time of 1:43.07. In the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay the same group would win with a time of 1:32.56. 

In the Men's and Women's 200 Yard Freestyle Delaney McPherson would win with a time of 2:07.3, while Adam Tichy won with a time of 1:55.8. In the Men's and Women's 100 Yard Backstroke Syd Whitford won with a time of 1:08.79 while Lukas McIntyre-Quinn won with a time of 57.66. In the Men's and Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke Olivia Greinke won with a time of 1:14.27 while Jacob Young won with a time of 1:04.91. 

In the Men's and Women's 50 Yard Freestyle Hannah Tapp won with a time of 26.08 while Aiden Rock won with a time of 23.3. In the Men's and Women's 100 Yard Freestyle Hanah Tapp won with a time of 58.05 and Kole Brannok won with a time of 49.09. In the Men's 50 Yard Backstroke, Kaden Siler won with a time of 26.92. In the Men's and Women's 50 Yard Breaststroke Olivia Greinke won with a time of 33.85 and Jacob Young won with a time of 28.82. In the Men's and Women's 500 Yard Freestyle Delaney McPherson won with a time of 5:39.37 and Braden Shearer won with a time of 5:35.24. In the Men's and Women's 100 Yard Butterfly Logan Thomas won with 1:07.81 and Lukas McIntyre-Quinn won with a time of 55.88. In the Men's and Women's 200 Yard IM Leia Grannis won with a time of 2:34.56 and Aiden Rock won with a time of 2:09.56. 

This dominating win marks the second to last meet of the 2023-2024 season as the Pioneers will host Rose-Hulman Saturday February 3rd at 1PM.
