LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania University earned their fifth straight win on Wednesday, defeating Mount St. Joseph 3-0 at the Clive M. Beck Center. The win also marks the fourth straight HCAC victory for the Pioneers.

Transy opened the first set with an impressive offensive display, building an 11-5 lead. Their largest lead of the first set would come from a sequence of two kills from Kayden Holcomb and a kill from Addie Atcher, expanding the Transy lead to 23-11. Cate Scheper's kill would give Transy their set securing point, 25-12. The second set would be a nearly identical start for the Pioneers, opening a 12-5 advantage featuring two aces from Megan Sweeney and kills from Isabella Myers, Grace Ward and Cecilia Roberts. MSJ would respond, pulling back to within one point, 15-14, before the Pioneers would launch another stretch of offense, building a 20-14 lead. Kayden Holcomb's kill would secure the second set victory for Transy, 25-21. The final set would see a series of lead changes, with both teams struggling to extend their leads. Transy would take a 19-17 lead courtesy of a block from Holcomb and Atcher. A late sequence of kills from Holcomb and Atcher would help the Pioneers take a 22-20 lead, while Scheper and Atcher's kills would secure the set victory, 25-23.

"Another great team effort against a very good MSJ team," said Amy Barmore, Head Coach.  "Isabella Myers led us with 11 kills, hitting a .375. Ava Beltsos added 13 digs and our ball control was on tonight, allowing us to hit a .236 as a team. We controlled our emotions well tonight and we're ready to keep moving forward."

Transy will travel to Anderson, Indiana for two matchups on Saturday, October 26th. The Pioneers will take on Anderson in HCAC competition at 1 p.m., and Alma College at 3 p.m. Transy returns to the Clive M. Beck Center on Wednesday, October 30th for an HCAC matchup with Earlham College at 7 p.m.
