DANVILLE, Ky. - The Transylvania Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Danville this evening to face in-state rival Centre College. It was another close match-up that would ultimately end in a 23-15 loss, moving them to 1-3 on the season. This was the 7th match-up in program history between Centre and Transylvania. The Pioneers earned a season-high in draw controls, winning 21.
Five different Pioneers contributed to the scoring category, led by freshman Sofie Garrett, who scored a season-high of 5 goals. Her first goal in tonight's game marked the first goal of her career. She scored off of every one of her shots on goal and won 1 draw control on the night. Junior Lula Thompson had her second consecutive game of this season with a hat trick, scoring 3 goals while winning 3 draw controls. HCAC defensive athlete of the week Charlotte Green scored 3 goals and had 2 assists on the night. She also won a season-high 12 draw controls. Fifth year senior Sophia Sparks added 2 goals of her own. Rounding out the scoring for the Pioneers, both junior TaNya Barbee and senior Linley Dawson scored a goal and earned an assist. Goalkeeper Jana Carlisle had 10 saves.
The Pioneers will be back home at Pat Deacon Stadium for their next game on Saturday, March 9th at 4:00 pm, where they will face DePauw.
