LEXINGTON, Ky. - It was a celebratory afternoon for Transylvania Women's Lacrosse, who faced Anderson University to finish out regular season conference play. As a team, the Pioneers recorded a new season high of 29 clears and won 15 draw controls. With the 21-8 win over Anderson, the Pioneers earned the HCLC regular season title, remaining undefeated in conference play.
Before the game, seniors Linley Dawson, Amanda Kanatzar, Grace Smilek, and Sophia Sparks were all recognized and celebrated.

Eight different Pioneers scored in today's win, led by junior TaNya Barbee. Barbee set a new season high in both goals and assists, totaling five each. Freshman Sofie Garrett added four goals. Senior Linley Dawson earned a hat trick and an assist while collecting two ground balls. Also earning a hat trick was junior Charlotte Green. Green finished the game with five caused turnovers, three ground balls, and won four draw controls. Fifth-senior Sophia Sparks scored two goals and earned an assist.
Junior Diana Bruder scored two goals in today's win. Bruder's second goal of the game marked her 100th career goal milestone. Defensively, Bruder had two caused turnovers, collected three ground balls, and won six draw controls. Junior Macy Hobbs-Powell scored a goal, earned an assist, and collected two ground balls. Rounding out scoring for the Pioneers was junior Lula Thompson, adding a goal and an assist while winning four draw controls. Sophomore defender Jayden Otto led the team in ground balls with four and totaled two caused turnovers. Senior defender Grace Smilek set a new season high in ground balls, collecting two. Sophomore goalkeeper Jana Carlisle totaled eight saves.
Head Coach Rachael Bragg had this to say after the win, "We are very proud of our team for the accomplishment of HCLC Regular Season Champs! We have more work to do next week to accomplish our next goal, and are looking forward to it."
The Pioneers will start post-season play on Wednesday, May 1st at Pat Deacon Stadium. Time and opponent are to be determined.
