Sadie Wurth reached a career milestone of 300 assists in a 63-49 road victory against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Berea College on Wednesday.
Wurth reached the milestone on the first offensive possession of the game for the Pioneers, a fast break lay-up to
Sierra Kemelgor.
Riley Flinn scored on a post jumper and a three-point field goal for Transylvania to take an early 7-0 lead. Minutes later, Flinn scored another three-pointer to take a 10-4 lead for the Pioneers. The high percentage three-point shooting continued for the Pioneers in the first quarter as Reagan Barrett scored from three-point range to extend the Transylvania lead 13-4.
Chloe McKnight's lay-up gave the Pioneers a 19-14 lead entering the second quarter.
Riley Flinn pushed the lead to double digits with a fast break lay-up midway through the second quarter.
Samantha Cornelison scored from three-point range, with McKnight finishing the quarter again in the paint to give Transylvania a 32-19 lead at the half.Â
The third quarter saw the Pioneers offense continue to shine, as Wurth scored consecutive three-pointers late in the quarter for 49-34 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Emilie Teall scored a three-pointer to start the fourth quarter, with Wurth scoring again from three as Transylvania maintained their double digit lead. Kemelgor scored on a drive to the basket, then successfully completing a trip to the free throw line on the next trip down the court to extend the lead to 14. McKnight scored on consecutive trips to the post late in the fourth to give the Pioneers their largest lead of the game at 63-47, with the Pioneers claiming the victory 63-49.Â
