LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania University fell to 0-1 on the season, falling to Capital in a 23-7 loss at Pat Deacon Stadium on Saturday.Â

TaNya Barbee scored the first goal of the season for the Pioneers at the 11:54 mark in the first quarter. Later in the first,Â
Isabelle Stukey scored again for the Pioneers at the 6:29 mark. With 03:34 remaining in the first, the Pioneers scored again asÂ
Sofie Garrett scored her first goal of the season.Â
Diana Bruder scored for Transylvania in the second quarter, but a number of runs from Capital left the Pioneers with an 18-4 deficit at the half.
Lula Thompson would score for Transylvania in the fourth quarter, followed by a goal from
Avery Kirkhope. Barbee would score again for the Pioneers late in the fourth, her second goal of the afternoon, but Capital would come away with the 23-7 victory.Â
"We fought hard in each quarter against a tough opponent, testing our mental toughness at every turn," said Head Coach Bri McCulley. "We stayed united, made adjustments and just kept building, for that I am extremely proud. I love this team and I am really looking forward to our season together."
Transylvania returns to Pat Deacon Stadium on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. to take on Oberlin College.
