GREENCASTLE, IN - Transylvania University fell to DePauw in a road match up on Saturday, 19-5. A strong offensive first quarter for DePauw gave the Pioneers an early deficit that they could not rally back from.
After a quick five goal run from DePauw in the opening minutes of the first quarter, Transylvania began to rally, as
Lula Thompson scored on a free position shot at 06:42. Less than a minute later, Sophie Garrett scored for Transylvania, cutting the deficit to three. In the third quarter,
Charlotte Green scored for the Pioneers, assisted by Thompson. Green scored again in the fourth quarter, assisted by Thompson again.
Macy Hobbs-Powell would score the final goal of the game for Transylvania late in the fourth quarter.Â
Charlotte Green led the Pioneers with two goals on three shots.
Sofie Garrett,
Lula Thompson and
Macy Hobbs-Powell also scored for Transylvania.
Grace Smilek-Edwards recorded four saves for the Pioneers, while
Peyton Steinriede recorded two saves in the goal.Â
Transylvania travels to Hilton Head, South Carolina for two matches next week, taking on Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday, March 11th and Wittenberg on Wednesday, March 12th.Â
