SEWANEE, TN - Transylvania fell to Washington and Lee in the opening round of the 2025 NCAA National Tournament on Saturday, 26-2.Â
The Pioneers opened the first quarter trailing 4-0 before
Charlotte Green, assisted by
Avery Kirkhope, scored the first goal for Transylvania. Minutes later,
TaNya Barbee scored unassisted to work at chipping away the Washington and Lee lead, but it would ultimately be the final goal of the afternoon for the Pioneers. Washington and Lee would prevail for a 26-2 opening round victory.Â
Grace Smilek-Edwards recorded three saves in the goal for the Pioneers.Â
Transylvania finishes their 2025 campaign with a record of 8-10, undefeated in the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) 4-0, and both the regular season and conference tournament titles in the HCLC.Â
