LEXINGTON, Ky. — Transylvania University women's soccer celebrated Senior Day with an 8-0 victory over Manchester University on Saturday at Pat Deacon Stadium. The Pioneers improved to 5-2-2 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.
Prior to the match, Transylvania honored Maggie Johnson, Molly Robinson, Peyton Tan, Chandler Worth and Carrie Stevens as part of its Senior Day celebration.
The Pioneers wasted little time taking control. Ellie Held opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Eva Blanke scored just over a minute later off an assist from Olivia Thomas. Senior Chandler Worth joined the scoring in the 18th minute, finding the back of the net to extend the Transylvania advantage to 3-0.
Emersyn Cox added a goal in the 36th minute before assisting on each of the Pioneers' next two scores. Mackenzie Wallace scored at 39:03, followed by Ginger Mooser at 41:49, sending Transylvania into halftime with a commanding 6-0 lead.
Mooser struck again less than two minutes into the second half for her second goal of the match. Izzy Chilton capped the scoring in the 62nd minute to give Transylvania the final 8-0 margin.
Cox finished with a goal and two assists, while Mooser led the Pioneers with two goals. Held, Blanke, Worth, Wallace and Chilton each added a goal as seven different Pioneers found the back of the net.
Transylvania controlled the match throughout, outshooting Manchester 20-1 and holding a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Pioneers also held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Carrie Stevens started in goal and played a scoreless opening 45 minutes before Olivia Baker took over for the second half. Baker made the Pioneers' lone save as the two combined for the shutout.
The Senior Day victory came in front of 362 fans at Pat Deacon Stadium.
