LEXINGTON, KY. – Transylvania Women's Soccer suffered its first loss of the 2026 season Friday evening, falling 3-0 to the second ranked Emory University at Pat Deacon Stadium. The Pioneers moved to 1-1 on the season, while Emory improved to 1-0.
Transylvania battled the Eagles throughout the opening half, generating four shots and four corner kicks in the first 45 minutes. Gracie Carrigan put the Pioneers' first shot on goal in the 14th minute, while Teagan Fahy, Eva Blanke and Anna Pieralisi also recorded first-half attempts.
Emory broke through in the 34th minute when Zia Tomlin scored to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage. Transylvania goalkeeper Carrie Stevens made four first-half saves to keep the Pioneers within one heading into halftime. The Eagles extended their lead in the 55th minute as Madison Teng scored off an assist from Sophia Asiain. Siena Elder added Emory's third goal in the 71st minute to make it 3-0.
Stevens finished the night with 11 saves across 90 minutes in goal. Emory recorded 20 shots with 14 on goal, while Transylvania finished with five shots and two on target. Fahy led the Pioneer attack with two shots, including one on goal, while Carrigan also placed a shot on frame.
The Pioneers finished with four corner kicks, all coming in the opening half, while Emory recorded six. Both teams were whistled for nine fouls.
Transylvania returns to Pat Deacon Stadium on Wednesday, September 9, hosting Centre College.
