Our Eventing Team competes at sanctioned USEA competitions throughout the country. The Intercollegiate Eventing League (IEL) is starting to grow as more colleges join in to promote this exciting program for college students. We travel to sanctioned USEA Events which hold Intercollegiate Eventing such as Fence, Chatt Hills & Virginia. We also travel to other competitions with the team and compete as individuals. You are required to have your own horse for this program.

Transylvania University gear for cross country is supplied to all riders. Saddle pads for Dressage and Show Jumping are also supplied. All riders in good standing with the team can wear this gear at any other shows that they compete in outside of the school show schedule.

Eventing could be termed an "equestrian triathlon". It involves working with a horse both on the flat and over fences. The three phases are: dressage, endurance (or cross-country), and show jumping. Over the centuries it has developed from the test of the ideal military charger. Eventing has now evolved into an exciting sport attracting interest from all levels of sports enthusiasts, from hobby riders to professional international stars. To simplify the phases, dressage could be considered "Ballet on Horseback". In show jumping, horse and rider jump over poles and other colorful obstacles that can fall over. Cross country is the heart of the sport, where horse and rider gallop across several miles on unlevel terrain jumping natural obstacles, at speed.

Come be a part of this exciting program in the heart of the Bluegrass with other riders that share your passion for eventing.
