Lexington, Ky. – Two Bluegrass baseball programs will renew a rivalry in a marquee event as the Transylvania baseball team welcomes the Centre College Colonels to Lexington's Whitaker Bank Ballpark in the Battle of Broadway on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m.
Playing in the home of the Single-A Lexington Legends minor league baseball team for the first time in two seasons, the Pioneers face Centre at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in their lone matchup of the 2018 season.
Wednesday's nonconference matchup between Transylvania and Centre marks the first meeting between the teams in two years; the Pioneers most recently played Centre on March 2, 2016 with Transy winning 4-2 in Danville, Kentucky.
The Pioneers last played at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in 2016, hosting conference rival Defiance College for a three-game series in March of that season.
This year's midweek game marks a return to Whitaker Bank Ballpark for a festive game which will feature the Transylvania baseball team, led by second-year head coach Zack Getsee and celebrate the achievements of other Transylvania Athletics varsity teams throughout the 2017-2018 season.
Admission for Wednesday's game is $8 for adults, and $5 for children under age 18. Children ages 4 and under are admitted for free. Admission is free for Transylvania faculty, staff, and students who provide their crimson cards at the stadium gate on Wednesday.
Doors for Wednesday's contest open at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday's game will also be broadcast on the Transy Sports Network (VIDEO LINK).
