Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania eventing team will begin the 2018-19 season at home by welcoming a collection of NCAA Division I, II, and III teams to the Kentucky Horse Park this weekend, September 28-30 for the Jump Start Intercollegiate Horse Trials.
The annual event which has taken place in Lexington since 1990, will serve as the backdrop for collegiate equestrian competition for the second time ever. The three-day competition which begins this Friday and runs through Sunday also marks the start of the Transy eventing team's fall schedule.
The Jump Start competition will begin on Friday with a combination of Dressage competition for higher levels (divided among Preliminary, Intermediate, Starter, Beginner, Novice, Novice, and Training levels) along with Show Jumping. Saturday's action will continue with lower-level Dressage, more Show Jumping, and the start of Cross Country Jumping. The weekend concludes on Sunday with Cross Country Jumping and Show Jumping.
Five different Pioneer riders are scheduled to compete at the Jump Start this weekend, including junior Stevee Candrl, senior Jessie Dees, sophomore Amanda Haw, freshman Maddie Cease, and senior Abby Blackburn.
Competition is slated to start approximately each day at 8:00 a.m. from the Kentucky Horse Park and runs through approximately 6:00 p.m. Attendance for the event is free and parking is $5 on site.
