New Market, Tenn. - The Transylvania Eventing team finished out the fall portion of its 2018-19 season with a good showing at the River Glen Intercollegiate Horse Trials on November 10-11 at the River Glen Equestrian Park.

The Pioneers had a strong dressage finish with all riders on the team each scoring in the 30's.  With 11 teams competing at the event which included teams from the University of Kentucky, Otterbein, University of Louisville, Sewanee, and Clemson, Transy had a good team finish, coming in sixth place.

The Pioneers eventing team enjoyed a fun weekend with all parents in attendance cheering the team on.  Freshman Maddie Cease had her first competition on her backup horse, "Striker", and finished in sixth place.

Sophomore Amanda Haw is coming along quite well on her horse, "With Perserverance." Haw finished the weekend's competition clear with no jumping penalties.  Senior Abby Blackburn had a beautiful dressage test on "Dior," scoring a 31 and recorded a clear SJ round.

"With the winter ahead for the Pioneers, we look forward to working on everything to make improvements needed for competition and will be coming out strong in the spring at FENCE Intercollegiate Horse Trials in Landrum, South Carolina," said Transylvania eventing head coach Tanya Davis after the competition.

Following the Intercollegiate Horse Trials in South Carolina, the Pioneers will compete later on in May at the Chattahoochee Hills Intercollegiate Championships in Georgia.
