Field Hockey falls in Roanoke.

SALEM, Va. --- Riding the electricity from their first win of the season the Transylvania University Field Hockey team continued its two game road trip to take on the Roanoke Maroons.  Game conditions were a brisk 52 degrees under sunny skies as the Pioneers took the field looking to capitalize on the hot play.

Play was quick and relentless as the Maroons offense shifted into high gear from the outset of the game.  Roanoke scored two goals in the first half despite the play of Allyson Benz. She faced a flurry of shots from the Maroon midfields making 12 saves in the first half.  The Pioneers defense remained steady despite the majority of offensive time being spent in the Transylvania zone.  Roanoke would add a second half goal slipping a shot past Sidney Lococo to set the final score of 3-0.  Lococo faced three shots in the period, stopping two.

Even though the majority of the action was defensive, Alyson Bergman and Jessie Wilson both took advantage of offensive opportunities with each getting a shot on goal during the contest.

Up next for the Pioneers (1-10, 0-6 SAA) is a return home to Pat Deacon Stadium to take on the Fighting Scots of Wooster College (3-12, 2-8) on Senior Night on Sunday, October 25th.  Match time is set for 12:00 p.m.
