West Palm Beach, Fla. – Senior Jeb Brumley recorded the lowest two-round score among his Pioneer teammates as the Transylvania men's golf team teed off play at the NCAA Fall Preview tournament at PGA National Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.
Brumley shot a three-over-par 75 in the first 18-hole round of the day before finishing off Saturday with a 79 to finish with a two-round score of 154, slotting the senior into a tie for 36th place.
Brumley made 14 pars in the first round along with a birdie to help his cause. Brumley followed with two birdies in the second round to continue his rise up the 90-player leaderboard.
Senior Harrison Lane finished second among Pioneers over the first 36 holes, carding a two-round 157 for a share of 48th place. Lane's day was highlighted by a strong back nine in the first round where he made back-to-back birdies on his 16th and 17th holes, followed by a par to enter the clubhouse with a six-over-par 78.
Freshman Michael Collins carded a two-round 160, improving upon his round-one score by four strokes. Collins sank two birdies in the second round to find his footing.
PGA National is the site of next spring's NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championships. One season after Transylvania University hosted the championship event at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky, the Pioneers are aiming for what would be their 14th straight appearance at the men's golf national championships which will be held in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with third-round play at PGA National. Transylvania is scheduled to tee off at 9:00 a.m. Eastern time from the 10th hole of PGA National's Champions Course.
