Terre Haute, Ind.- The Transylvania men's soccer team suffered a tough 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers on Saturday afternoon at Jim Rendel Field.
Transylvania fell behind early in the game when Rose-Hulman midfielder Turner Perkins found the back of the net with an unassisted goal four minutes in, and the urgency for the visiting Pioneers quickly grew.
After the early Rose-Hulman goal, Transylvania settled in and played a strong rest of the half. The teams were nearly even in shots taken, as the Pioneers recorded three in the first half to the four by the Engineers.
The second half would prove to be the deciding period in the contest. While Transylvania failed to find the scoring touch, Rose-Hulman midfielder Alex Jansen added two insurance goals within a ten-minute span, raising what would be the final score to 3-0 in favor of the home team.
Next up, the Pioneers return home looking to secure their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season, as they face the Lions of Mt. St. Joseph on Wednesday, October 5. The match is set for a 7:00 PM start at Pat Deacon Stadium.
