Westerville, Ohio, - The Transylvania men's soccer team endured a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Otterbein University Cardinals at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.
The Pioneers, who were held scoreless for the second-straight game, cultivated a 15-11 advantage in shots taken over the Cardinals, but were unable turn any of the chances into goals. Peyton Netherton led the way for Transylvania with four shots on the night.
After a scoreless first half, Otterbein took a 1-0 lead over the Pioneers in the 49th minute on a goal by Kennedy Mensah. Moments later, Tiger Pham slipped a shot into the lower right corner of the goal to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Cardinals landed one final strike in 66th minute when Kyle Haberkorn scored to push the final score to 3-0 in favor of Otterbein.
Transylvania goalkeeper Drew Grisham collected six saves in the loss, matching his season-high performance at Hope last weekend.
With the loss, Transylvania's record falls to 2-3 while Otterbein improve to 3-2 on the season.
Up next, the Pioneers will return to Lexington to face the Centre College Colonels in Transylvania's season opener on Wednesday, September 18. The matchup of in-state rivals is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start at Pat Deacon Stadium.
