Sewanee, Tenn. – The Transylvania swimming and diving team continued the nonconference portion of its 2018-19 schedule with a trip to the University of the South to take on the Sewanee Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Drew Dodds delivered his finest performance of the season, leading the Pioneers with three individual wins on Saturday. Dodds won the men's 100 breaststroke in 1:03.30, beating the field by more than two seconds. Dodds won again in the men's 200 breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:19.59 and winning the race in nearly 16 seconds. His final individual win came in the men's 100 individual medley as he won the race in 59.04 seconds to sweep all three of his individual races.
For the Transylvania women, sophomore Mattie Fogle remained ever consistent with another pair of victories in the women's 1000 freestyle and 500 freestyle races. Fogle won the 500 free in 5:42.25, outpacing the second-place finisher by nearly four seconds. Fogle delivered a dominant performance in the 1000 free, finishing in 11:42.78.
More wins came for Transylvania underclassmen as freshman Lindsey Seaton won the women's 50 freestyle, sprinting to the wall in 26.59 seconds. Sophomore Emma Lloyd was a winner in the women's 200 backstroke, winning by five seconds in 2:25.25.
Lloyd and Seaton were part of another team win in the women's 400 freestyle relay. The duo joined with Fogle and freshman Lauren Kiser to win the race in 4:02.34.
The Sewanee women took the team victory over Transy, 162-102 while the Tigers men squad won over the Pios by a margin of 149-81.
The Pioneers return home for their next meet on Friday, November 16 as they host Union College at the William T. Young Center pool in Lexington at 6:30 p.m.
