Greenwood, Ind. – With increasing displays of record-breaking speed, Transylvania track and field senior Cole Green has again been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 9.
Green, a senior from Oak Ridge, Tennessee (Oak Ridge HS), competed in last Saturday's University of the Cumberlands Invitational in Williamsburg, Kentucky and recorded some of his fastest career times.
In the men's 100-meter event, Green set a new personal and school record, crossing the line in 10.80 seconds. Green checked in at second place in the race behind an unattached runner. Green followed up his career-best time by finishing second in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.93 seconds.
This is the second player of the week award earned by Green in the 2017 outdoor track and field season, and the third captured by Green overall in 2017 including the indoor track and field circuit. Green is the reigning HCAC Indoor (2017) and Outdoor (2016) Men's Track Athlete of the Year.
Green and the Pioneers next return to competition on Friday evening, April 14 in Danville, Kentucky at the Centre College Twilight Meet.
