New Orleans - Transylvania track and field seniors Jordin Fender and Cole Green were each selected to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region Teams, the organization announced Monday.
A total of 935 men and 945 women achieved All-Region honors across eight different regions. Top-5 individuals in each track and field event earned All-Region accolades.
Green, a senior from Oak Ridge, Tennessee (Oak Ridge HS) was selected to the Men's All-Region team for the Great Lakes, posting top-5 region times in the men's 100 meter and 200 meter races. Green's time in the 200 meters currently stands 14th-best nationwide. The senior has qualified for his first NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championship by virtue of his time in the 200 m.
Fender, a senior from Lexington, Kentucky (Dunbar HS) was chosen to the Women's All-Region team for the Great Lakes, registering top-5 times in the women's 100 meters and 100-meter hurdles. Fender's time in the 100-meter hurdles is currently the ninth-fastest time nationally.
Fender captured All-Region honors for the second consecutive year, repeating in both the women's 100 meter and 100-meter hurdle events.
The senior competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2016 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships where she achieved All-American status. Fender will defend that billing at this week's upcoming 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
