Transylvania recorded a combined time of 1:45.04.73 on the day, as freshman Kyle Sprague led the Pioneer effort by placing 19th with a time of 17:51.67. Sprague was just 20 seconds off of his personal record.
"The men opened up the season with a strong performance," said Head Coach Heidi Pinkerton. "We will use this momentum to continue to improve throughout the year."
Freshman Alex Czujko made a top 25 appearance with a time of 18:17.30, followed by teammates junior Thomas Amburn (21:35.84), sophomore Akin Erol (22:25.15), freshman Andrew Meyer (22:54.77), and freshman Andrew Ellis (23:50.74). Erol posted a new personal record with 22:26, slicing more than three minutes off his best.
Vincennes took top honors of the day with a combined time of 1:26:39.30, followed by Spalding (Ky.) and Wilmington (Oh.).
The men will see action on Sept. 14 as part of the University of Kentucky Invitational at Masterson Station in Lexington.
