Hanover, Ind. – Sophomore runner Rebecca Facktor continued her role of pacesetter for the Transylvania cross country team at the Madison Kiwanis XC Invitational hosted by Hanover College on Saturday.
Facktor crossed the line in the women's 6K race in 27:07.8 minutes to lead the way for the Pioneers, finishing 23rd against a field of 62. That pace was good for an average mile time of 7:16.6 minutes as Facktor continues to pick up steam still early in the fall campaign for Transy.
Closely trailing Facktor was junior Elizabeth Deaton, who recorded a time of 27:16.1 minutes to finish two slots behind the sophomore.
Sophomore Sadie Middleton took third amongst the Pioneers, crossing the line in 7:33.4 minutes. Junior Riley Bresnahan was the last of the Pioneers to record a sub-eight minute average mile time as she took fourth amongst her Pioneer peers. Jennai Mitchell, Alex Voelker, Ashley Dragan, and Melanie Peterson rounded out the order for the Pioneers to cap off a productive day at Hanover.
On the men's side, it was Transylvania freshman Charlie Jordan who led the way in the men's 8K run. Taking on a field of 66 runners, Jordan cruised to the finish line in 31:09.9 minutes to finish 25th in the overall field.
Evan Reister finished second amongst the Transylvania men's representation, completing his race in 32 minutes sharp. Sophomore Brian Mudrak finished three spots behind Reister at just under three minutes later. Freshman Michael Clore completed a strong personal race in a time of 33:28.8 minutes.
Next on the calendar for the Pioneers cross country teams is the Mt. St. Joseph Invitational at Blue River Memorial Park, to be held in the Cincinnati Metro. That race commences on Friday, September 23.
