Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania women's basketball team will hit the apex of the holiday schedule by hosting the ninth-annual Pat Deacon Tournament at the Clive M. Beck Center on Friday and Saturday, December 28-29.
The Pioneers will welcome Methodist University (S.C.), University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and No. 11 Trine University to Lexington this weekend for two days of doubleheader competition in the bracket-format tournament.
The annual tournament which occurs prior to the turn of the new year, pays homage to Pat Deacon, Transylvania's longtime women's basketball head coach and an architect of Pioneer athletics.
This year's Pat Deacon Classic schedule poses the final two games of the nonconference schedule for the Pioneers before they resume the last 12 games of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on January 2 through the end of the regular season.
The action tips off Friday with a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader: Trine takes on Wisconsin-Whitewater to lead off the doubleheader, followed by the Transylvania-Methodist contest at 7:00 p.m. The losers of Friday's two games square off in a consolation game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., which precedes Saturday's championship game between Friday's winners at 6:00 p.m.
Tickets for individual day passes are $10 per adult and $15 for an all-tournament session pass. Children and seniors ages 65 and above are admitted for $6 per day while children ages 4 and under are admitted for free.
All games will be livestreamed on the Transy Sports Network.
