Lexington, Ky.  – For the first time in four seasons, the Transylvania women's basketball team has entered the Top 25 poll, chosen as the 25th team in the Week 7 edition of the 2018-19 season poll.

Transylvania received 51 voting points this week to secure the 25th slot in the poll, which is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors, and media members across the country and is published on a weekly basis during the NCAA women's basketball season.

The Pioneers last appeared in the top 25 poll during the 2014-2015 season when they reeled off a 24-1 record in the regular season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers were ranked 22nd nationally in the final release of that year's top 25 poll.

Of the 25 teams ranked this week, five hail from Transylvania's region, the Great Lakes region.

Transylvania currently possesses a record of 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and is currently in a tie for first place along with Rose-Hulman in the conference standings.

Transylvania will square off with Hanover College on Wednesday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. before squaring off with Rose-Hulman this Saturday in Lexington at 1:00 p.m.
