Memphis, Tenn. – The Transylvania women's golf team came into Sunday morning looking to move from third place to the top slot on the leaderboard in round two of the Rhodes Classic tournament but Mother Nature had other plans.
Starting their day at the driving range in an onslaught of rain, the Pioneers and the six other teams competing in the two-round tournament at the Links at Galloway course were unable to get onto the links as the fierce weather patterns draping the entire Southeast region over the weekend persisted throughout the day.
With the cancellation of the tournament's second round, the first-round scores served as the final tally for the event, leaving the Pioneers in a third-place finish for the event. Washington University in St. Louis took first place, finishing five strokes ahead of the Pioneers, while Methodist took second, two strokes better than the Pios.
Junior Lexie Lamar, who fired a one-under-par 72 in Saturday's first round, finished in a tie for third place and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Senior teammate Meredith Moir joined Lamar on the All-Tournament Team after carding a 73 on Saturday, finishing in the top-five.
Transylvania continues its fall slate on Monday, September 24 in Houston, Texas at the Bay Oaks Country Club for the NCAA Preview tournament.
