Bluffton, Ohio – Lexie Lamar finished off her weekend at the HCAC Preview tournament at the top of the individual leaderboard in a first-place tie in the second round of play on Sunday afternoon at the Bluffton Golf Club.
After leading the 79-player leaderboard by three strokes on Saturday, Lamar carded an 82 on Sunday to finish with a two-round score of 157 to finish in a tie for first place with Rose-Hulman's Rachel Zhang. Zhang won a playoff between the two to earn the final medalist honors. Lamar and Zhang finished one stroke ahead of Rose-Hulman's Caitlin Coverstone to complete an exciting weekend of play at the site of next month's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
It was a weekend to remember for Lamar, who recorded the first medalist finish of her career with her performance at Bluffton Golf Club.
Rachel Fine completed her weekend on a high note, shooting a seven-over-par 79 to finish with a 161, good for sole possession of a fifth-place finish. The reigning HCAC individual champion improved upon her first-round score by three strokes.
Rebecca Fine turned in a two-round score of 167 to finish in a four-way tie for 12th place on the individual leaderboard. The senior carded an 86 on Sunday.
Grace Chilton joined Fine in the tie for 12th place, duplicating Fine's Saturday and Sunday scores to finish with a two-round 167.
Kelli Harpe rounded out the Transy top-five with a 175 as the sophomore bested her Saturday card by five strokes.
Transylvania took a second-place team finish, shooting a 332 on Sunday for a two-round score of 651.
The Pioneers will compete next weekend in Rising Star, Indiana at the two-day Rumble at Rising Star Tournament. The first round commences on Sunday, September 29.
