Women's lacrosse falls to Ohio Wesleyan

LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Pioneers added three goals in the second half, but could not erase the Bishop lead as Ohio Wesleyan topped the Transylvania University women's lacrosse team, 13-4, Saturday at Pat Deacon Stadium.

Iyabo Erinkitola logged two goals on four shots and scooped two ground balls in the loss, as Julia Ward and Jessica Bier also scored for the Pioneers.

The Bishops jumped out to a first half lead, before Erinkitola's first score of the game put the Pioneers on the board just under the midway point of the first half. After a ground ball pickup from Rachel Harrison, Erinkitola netted a free position shot thanks to a Bishop foul. Erinkitola, again, found the net with 25:13 left in regulation. Harrison forced an Ohio Wesleyan turnover which led to a successful Transylvania clear allowing Erinkitola and the Pioneers to add the goal.

The Pioneer attack continued to threaten penetrating the Bishop defense, as Jessica Bier added Transylvania's third goal with 8:20 remaining following a ground ball pick up from Julia Ward.

Ward and the Pioneers converted a late Ohio Wesleyan goal into another score at the 3:42 mark, but could not overcome the deficit.

The Pioneers are back in action Wednesday as the host Otterbein University at Pat Deacon Stadium. Wednesday's game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
