Transylvania finds net on multiple occasions in second half for win at Manchester

North Manchester, Ind. – The Transylvania women's soccer team exploded for three second-half goals on the way to a 4-0 victory against the Manchester University Spartans on Saturday afternoon at the Spartan Soccer Complex.

Transylvania put together one of its most complete performances of the year on the road against Manchester as the Pioneers claimed their third win of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference season. Transylvania improved to 3-2 in conference play and 5-7-2 overall.

In the first half, Transylvania's first goal of the game came from freshman striker Casey Hite, who chipped in a shot in the 14th minute to push the Pioneers ahead, 1-0.

The score remained the same until just over one minute into the second half, when freshman midfielder Keeley Chaffin set up junior Cecilia Walton for a left side shot and a 2-0 advantage.

The Pioneers struck quickly again just three minutes later when senior midfielder Lindsey Sizemore delivered a corner kick to deliver the ball into net for a 3-0 lead. Transylvania put the finishing touch upon a solid game on another long-distance delivery, this time a free kick from sophomore midfielder Brett Edwards for the fourth goal of the day in the 59th minute.

The Pioneers doubled the amount of shots by Manchester, registering 26 shots to the Spartans' 13 on the day.

Junior goalie Haley Blackburn recorded a clean sheet for Transylvania in the win while recording six saves.

Transylvania is next in action on Wednesday, October 18 as it visits the Franklin College Grizzlies in Franklin, Indiana. The Grizzlies and Pioneers are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kick.
