Hanover, Ind. – The Transylvania women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result to the No. 15 Hanover College Panthers at the HC Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss drops Transylvania to 10-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Hanover, currently ranked #15 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, improves to 13-1 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 6-0.

Freshman goalie Morgan Patton recorded three saves against just one goal allowed while picking up the loss in net for the Pioneers.

Transylvania's first offensive opportunity came in the 6th minute when freshman forward Ashley Chindo made a beautiful crossover move and sent a shot towards goal that was saved by the Hanover goalie.

The Panthers nearly took the lead in the 16th minute when Kelsey Hughes sent a free kick from just outside the box towards Transylvania's goal. However, Patton was there for the save and the score remained level at 0-0 going into the halftime break.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, the Panthers made their move when a through ball was played to Hughes, who slipped a shot past Patton and into the back of the net, giving Hanover the 1-0 lead.

Transylvania continued to pressure Hanover's defense late, sending five shots towards goal in the final 10 minutes of play, but the Panthers' line held strong to preserve the 1-0 victory.

Up next for the Pioneers is a road matchup with the Bluffton University Beavers on Saturday, October 20. First touch between the Pioneers and the Beavers is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Sears Complex.
