Greenwood, Ind. – Transylvania junior women's swimmer Sarah Haerle and freshman men's swimmer Reese Arredondo have been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Haerle, a junior from Newburgh, Indiana (Castle HS) captured four wins in a thrilling dual-meet victory for the Transylvania women's swim team against Asbury University last Saturday. Haerle posted victories in three individual events and a relay to lead the Pioneers to a 130-124 victory for the women's side over Asbury.
It was a well-earned award for Haerle, who took first in the women's 100 breaststroke (1:11.70), first in the women's 200 breaststroke (2:35.14), first in the women's 200 individual medley (2:21.23) and was part of a women's 200 individual medley relay team that took first place in 1:57.43.
Arredondo, a freshman from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky (Anderson County HS) captured victories in the men's 100 freestyle (10:36.67), the men's 500 freestyle (5:12.76) and was part of a men's 200 freestyle relay team that took first place in 1:34.57.
Haerle and Arredondo will lead the Pioneers back into action on Saturday, October 10 as Transylvania takes part in a Double Dual Meet with Wittenberg University and Wilmington College. The meet is set for a 1:00 p.m. start at the Wilmington Natatorium in Wilmington, Ohio.
