Lexington, Ky. – Transylvania sophomore swimmer Drew Dodds has been awarded the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week award for men's swimming, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Dodds, a sophomore from Madisonville, Kentucky (Madisonville – North Hopkins HS) turned out his best performance of the season this past weekend at Sewanee, Tennessee against the Sewanee Tigers in a dual meet.
Dodds won all three individual races he appeared in, taking first place in the men's breaststroke in 1:03.30, the men's 200 breaststroke in 2:19.59, and the men's 100 individual medley in 59.04 seconds. The sophomore added a second-place finish in the men's 400 medley relay to help capture 31 of the team's 81 points on Saturday.
It is the first player of the week award of Dodds' career and the third player of the week award won by a Transylvania swimmer for the 2018-19 season. (Sarah Haerle, Reece Arredondo, week of October 29).
Dodds and the Pioneers are back in action at home this Friday, November 16 as they welcome the Union College Tigers of Barbourville, Kentucky to the William T. Young Center pool in Lexington. The dual meet is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
