Sarah Haerle earns HCAC Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for third time this season

Lexington, Ky. – Junior Sarah Haerle has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Women's Swimming, the conference announced Tuesday.  

Haerle, a junior from Newburgh, Indiana (Castle HS) led the Pioneer women's swimming team to a 135-117 victory over conference opponent Anderson University this past Saturday in Anderson, Indiana by winning all three individual races in which she appeared, along with a relay race.

Haerle collected a first-place finish in the women's 50-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in a time of 34.31 seconds. The junior added to her list of achievements with a first-place finish in the women's 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:13.58. Haerle topped off her afternoon with a win in the women's 100 individual medley race, winning in 1:06.78.

Haerle then teamed with junior Mattie Fogle, sophomore Emma Lloyd, and freshman Lindsey Seaton to capture first place in the women's 400 yard medley relay race, winning by over 30 seconds.

This is the third time Haerle has won player of the week honors during the 2018-2019 season (November 19, October 29) and the fourth time overall in her career.

Haerle and the Pioneers next return to the pool for competition on February 15-17 as Transylvania squares off with its other HCAC opponents in the second-annual HCAC Swimming and Diving Championships, held at the Vigo County Aquatic Center in Terre Haute, Indiana.
