LEXINGTON, Ky. – In a 9-0 rout of Earlham College, the Transylvania University women's tennis team picked up its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win Wednesday at the Transylvania University Tennis Complex.
The Pioneers controlled the match in its entirety, as Claire Mielcarek and Megan Dixon cruised to an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles. Lilli Williams and Madison Miles mirrored with an 8-0 win, as did the duo of Jessica Shotwell and Jenna Nidffer to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
Much was the same as the Pioneers, MIelcarek, Dixon, Williams and Miles picked up win in singles play. Kearstin Bruther and Myriah Porter added 6-0, 6-0 wins respectively to give the Pioneers the sweep and the win.
Transy moves to 1-1 in HCAC play with the win. The Pioneers travel to Defiance Saturday for another conference match. Saturday's match is scheduled for 10 a.m.
