Pioneers women's tennis completes bracket-style tournament to open season

Greencastle, Ind. —Members of the Transylvania University women's tennis team competed in day two of the DePauw Fall Invitational on Sunday afternoon as they continued the early and challenging start to their 2017-18 season.

Among the highlights of the day were sophomore Lucy Herrington competing valiantly before falling 6-2, 6-3 in the third place match of No. 4 singles action.

Transylvania junior Kearstin Bruther turned in the most compelling match of the day, as she came from behind to claim a 3-6, 7-6, (10-6) victory over Kyla Jarvis from Rose-Hulman in No. 4 singles.

The trip to Depauw wrapped up opening weekend for the Pioneers, who experienced some of their toughest competition of the season to kick off their long 2017-18 journey.

Up next, the Pioneers will make the short trek down I-75 to face the Midway College Eagles on Wednesday afternoon, September 6. That match is set for a 4:00 p.m. start at the Thomas R. Post Tennis Complex.
