Two school records fall as track and field competes at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio- Transylvania's track and field teams broke two indoor school records and turned in multiple scorers at the Denison Lid Lifter Invitational.

The meet opened with the field events, where the two indoor school records were broken. Freshman Bradley Easterling threw a new personal record throw of 10.76 meters in the men's shot put to break the five-year-old record.

In the women's long jump junior Erin Marek broke the other school record of the day, her first time competing in the event. Her jump of 4.43 meters took down a record that stood since 2009.

As the meet progressed, top performances came from each event group. Continuing the throws success was sophomore Taylor Sanders who threw another big personal record in the women's shot put to place seventh overall in the event.

In the sprint events sophomore Cole Green placed third in the men's 60 meter dash, despite having his blocks slide from under him at the start of the race. He followed up that performance with a seventh place in the men's 200 meter dash.

Junior Katie Cohron placed for the women's sprints, taking eighth in the 400 meter dash.

The top Pioneer placer of the meet was sophomore Cora Kerber who ran for second place in the women's 800 meter run. Her time of 2:29.76 puts her on pace to defend her Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor runner-up performance from a year ago.

Transylvania will compete again Jan. 31 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
