Granville, Ohio. - The Transylvania track and field team continued its trend of setting new school records as the team competed in the Bob Shannon Invitational on the campus of Denison University on Saturday afternoon.
On the women's side, the day was highlighted by junior Olivia Kee, who placed 4th in the Women's 60-meter Hurdles event with a time of 10.01 seconds.
Senior Savannah Hemmer placed 5th in the Women's 200 meters with a time of 27.79 seconds.
Head coach Taylor Throckmorton was pleased with his team's efforts across numerous events. "I was really happy to see the team's progression from last weekend to today," said Throckmorton. "Our sprints/hurdles/jumps group is absolutely on fire right now. Almost every single one of them set a new personal record in at least one event today, including Savannah Hemmer posting a top-five time in the conference in the 200 meters, and Kee placing 4th in the 60-meter hurdles, continuing to show that she can hang with the top athletes across multiple different conferences in the hurdles."
In the men's weight throw Transylvania senior Bradley Easterling placed 9th and set a new school record with a throw of 13.45 meters in the finals.
"The highlight today on the men's side was definitely Brad in the weight throw taking over the school record," commented Throckmorton. "He is now the third different guy on our team to hold that record this season and we're only two meets in, which is a testament to the culture and competitiveness of our throws group."
The Pioneers return to competition on Saturday, February 10 as they travel to Greencastle, Indiana for the Depauw Invitational.
