Greenwood, Ind. – Transylvania volleyball junior right side hitter Jordan Horne has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Horne, a junior from Louisville, Kentucky (Male HS) had a powerful week on the frontline as she led the Pioneers to their sixth straight HCAC win and a 1-1 week overall.
In Wednesday's three-set sweep against Franklin, Horne produced a match-high 15 kills to grow Transylvania's season-high winning streak to six games. The Pioneers are now 6-1 in HCAC play with the win against Franklin. Horne's total line in the 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 victory consisted of 15 kills, five digs, one block, one ace, and one assist while fielding a match-best attacking percentage of .414 in the match.
Horne again led the Pioneers in a three-set loss against No. 5 nationally-ranked Thomas More this past Friday, a closely-fought match which saw the two-loss Saints capture the first two sets by scores of 28-26 and 26-24. In Friday's performance Horne registered a team-high 12 kills, one-third of Transylvania's total kills in the match. Horne also added eight digs and two blocks in Friday's effort. For the week, Horne totaled 27 kills.
This is Horne's second Player of the Week award this season and the fourth HCAC player of the week award won by a Transylvania volleyball player (Ellie Stigger, Abby Wills, week of October 15, Horne, week of October 1).
Horne and the Pioneers next play on Wednesday, October 24 at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio at 7:00 p.m.
