Kayla Hanson enters her fourth year as an athletic trainer at Transylvania University, primarily working with the volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s
tennis programs.
Before returning to her alma mater, Kayla served as the head athletic trainer for Great Crossing High School in Georgetown, KY from 2019-2022. Prior to this role, she served as an assistant athletic trainer at nearby Scott County High School in 2018.
Kayla earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science from Transylvania University in 2014 and was also a member of the Pioneers softball team during her undergraduate career. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 2018. During her time in graduate school, Kayla worked with Eastern Kentucky’s football and baseball teams, and also spent a semester with the University of Florida Men’s Basketball program.
Originally from Arizona, Kayla has called Lexington home for the past 14 years. Her experience as a former collegiate athlete and certified athletic trainer give her a unique perspective in supporting student-athletes and fostering their health, performance, and well-being.
