Keith Cecil
Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance
Education: Transylvania University (B.A.); University of Kentucky (M.S.)
Keith Cecil is in his 12th year at Transylvania University and currently serves as Assistant Athletic Director. He currently oversees NCAA compliance, championships, the Pioneer Club, and sport oversight for Baseball, Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving, and Men's and Women's Tennis.
During his time at Transylvania, Cecil has also served as the Director of Athletic Facilities and Campus Recreation where he oversaw the athletic facilities, oversaw the fitness center, athletic event management staffing, intramurals, club sports, and other recreational events. Prior to that Cecil served as the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness/Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach.
In his role as Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness, he started the university’s first strength and conditioning program where he came to oversee 20 of the school’s intercollegiate teams developing programs to improve speed, strength, and quickness while decreasing the likelihood of injury through sport specific training techniques.
As Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach, Cecil helped to guide the Pioneers to six Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships and six NCAA Tournament appearances in his seven seasons with the program, which also garnered 58 all conference players and 7 player of the year awards.
Within the university community, Cecil also currently serves on the University Judicial Council and additionally serves as one of the school’s Title IX investigators.
Cecil is also actively involved on NCAA committees, as he is currently on the NCAA Division III Membership committee and NCAA Technology working group. He also holds professional memberships with NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics) and NADIIIAA (National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators).
The Richmond, KY native is a former standout Transy tennis player who graduated in 2003. He played on the first two Pioneer teams to play as members of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, helping Transy to capture the school’s first HCAC Championship in 2003. Cecil was named to the All-Heartland Conference team after both his junior and senior seasons.
