Stone 2024

Mike Stone

Mike Stone is in his seventh season as an assistant coach for the Transylvania men’s basketball program in 2025–26.

A former Pioneer standout and professional player, Stone returned to Transylvania University after playing professionally in the United States and Australia. He played for the Bowling Green Hornets of the CBA where he helped the team to a championship game appearance in 2014, before continuing his career overseas with the Suncoast Clippers in Australia’s Queensland Basketball League where he was an MVP Candidate.

Since joining Head Coach Brian Lane’s staff, Stone has helped Transylvania remain a contender atop the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC). In his first season, the Pioneers swept the HCAC regular-season and tournament championships and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in seven years.

As lead assistant, Stone oversees player development, recruiting, and scouting. Under his guidance, Transylvania has produced seven First Team All-HCAC performers, two HCAC Players of the Year, and two HCAC Freshman of the Year award winners.

Before returning to his alma mater, Stone served as an assistant coach at Lexington Catholic High School from 2013–2019, helping the program capture the 11th Region Championship in 2014–15 while specializing in player development. He coached and helped develop three all state performers, including one Kentucky Mr. Basketball.

As a student-athlete at Transylvania (2008–12), Stone helped lead the Pioneers to two NCAA Tournament appearances and two HCAC regular-season titles. A team co-captain and recipient of the Lee Rose Team Award, he graduated with a double major in Economics and Business Administration.
