Johnson served in an interim role, before being named Sports Information Director in November 2014.

Johnson is responsible for game operation, event management, statistics, maintaining  the athletic website as well as overseeing day-to-day operations of the department. He assisted with event management of the 2014 Kentucky/ Indiana Boys and Girls All-Star game hosted by Transylvania and helped implement a new web streaming service to provide high-def broadcasting of athletic events. 

He holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University and is working toward a master's in sport administration from EKU. He is a member of CoSIDA and serves on the publications committee and is also a member of CEFMA. 

He and his wife, Kristy, reside in Richmond and have one daughter, Harper.
