MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Transylvania dropped a pair of close decisions Sunday on the final day of the Rhodes Invitational.
Transy lost to undefeated Washington University 7-2 before falling to host Rhodes 6-2 later on Sunday. Transy is now 0-4 on the season.
In the first game, Transy had six hits and was tied with the Bears 2-2 heading into the fifth inning. Washington scored once in the fifth and twice in both the sixth and seventh to get the win.
Katie Hulsman went the distance for the Pioneers, allowing just four earned runs with two strikeouts and three walks.

Elizabeth Young, and
Jamie Lutes had hits for the Pioneers.
In the second game, Rhodes took a 6-2 decision. Mitchell and Ladanyi accounted for both Transy runs with homers, keying a four-hit attack. Ladanyi also had a single in the game. The duo went back-to-back in the first inning to give Transy a 2-0 lead.
Rhodes scored one run in the first and one in the second to tie the game, then tallyed two in the third to take the lead.
Young was the starter in the circle, getting one out in the fourth and giving up six hits and six runs. She had three strikeouts and two walks. Hulsman finished up, allowing three hits and no runs. She struck out one and walked one.
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they host Marietta in a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m. at Hall Field.
