FRANKLIN, Ind. – Transylvania's
Cassie Hamilton and
Michelle Ladanyi each drove in runs in the 13th inning Thursday, lifting the Pioneers to a 10-8 Heartland Conference softball win over Franklin.
The Grizzlies came back to take a 4-0 win in a game called after five innings due to darkness in the night cap. Transy is 4-14 overall, 2-2 in HCAC play, while Franklin is 4-12, 1-1 HCAC.
In the first game, Ladanyi had five hits in seven at-bats with two runs scored and a pair of RBI. Transy had 17 hits overall. Hamilton,
Chelsea Meiners,
Megan Mitchell, and
Kayla Hanson each had two hits for the Pioneers.
Elizabeth Young and
Amy Hockstedler each drove in two runs for Transy.
Katie Hulsman went the first 5.2 innings for the Pioneers, allowing three earned runs.
Jamie Lutes got her first win of the year with 7.1 innings of eight-hit relief.
In the second game, Transy had seven hits, two by Young, but Franklin scored once in the first and three times in the fifth to get the win.
Hulsman started and took the loss. Young had a double for the only extra base hit for Transy.
The Pioneers are back in action on Monday when they travel to Capital for a doubleheader with the Crusaders.
