LEXINGTON, Ky.- Transylvania took the first game of a Heartland Conference softball doubleheader from Rose-Hulman
Saturday by a count of 9-1 in six innings, then completed the sweep with a 3-1 decision in the second game at Hall Field.
The wins move the Pioneers to 7-17 and 5-3 in conference play and sets Rose-Hulman back to 5-19, 1-5 HCAC.
The Pioneers went to work early in the first game, scoring two runs in the in the bottom of the second inning, and went on another scoring rally in the third to make the score 6-0.
Amy Hockstedler lead the Pioneers in the hits category with four hits through four at bats, including two runners batted in.
Chelsea Meiners also added three hits.
Katie Hulsman earned the win in the circle for the Pioneers, moving her to 4-9 on the year.
Transy took a 6-0 lead after scoring four runs in the third inning, then clinched the game with two in the fifth and one more in the sixth. The Pioneers had 14 total hits. Hulsman allowed seven hits and one run with two strikeouts.
In the second game, each team managed just four hits, but the Pioneers turned theirs into three runs. Transy took a 1-0 lead in the first then broke a 1-1 tie with two more in the bottom of the third.

Jamie Lutes each had a double while Meiners and
Cassie Hamilton added the other two hits. Ladanyi and
Alyssa Oakley each drove in runs.
Lutes got the win, allowing just four hits and one walk to go with seven strikeouts. She improves to 4-6 on the year.
Transy returns to action on Tuesday when it takes on Hanover in a doubleheader at Hall Field. The first game begins at 3:30 p.m.
