Transy snags two wins against Hanover

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lexington, Ky.- Offense was the key Tuesday as Transylvania swept Hanover 3-2 and 8-4 in a Heartland Conference doubleheader at Hall Field.

The wins move the Pioneers to 9-17 and 7-3 in Heartland Conference play, while the losses leave Hanover at 9-13 and 4-4 in conference play. Transy has won a season-best five games in a row.

The Pioneers needed the bottom of the seventh inning to overcome the Panthers in the first game. Cassie Hamilton drove in the winning run with two outs of a single to left field.

Transy was propelled behind the arm of Katie Hulsman, who earned the win in the contest and moves to 5-9 on the year.

In the second game, the Pioneers came out hitting right off the bat and earned three runs in the first inning off a Michelle Ladanyi RBI single to center field and a two-run home run by Megan Mitchell, her fourth of the year.  Transy earned three more runs in the second inning when Ladanyi sent home three off a double to left field.

Jamie Lutes was credited with the win in the second contest. She had two strike outs and only one walk against 30 batters faced.
