LEXINGTON, Ky.—After nearly a two hour delay prior to game one, the Hanover College Panthers picked up two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference wins over the home standing Transylvania University softball team Wednesday at John R. Hall Field.

The Panthers took game one, 7-6 , before taking game two by a score of 5-1.

In game one, Hanover jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first and the Pioneers were unable to overcome the margin.

Transy plated two runs in the bottom of the second with a two-run shot to left center from Katie Hulsman.

Hanover widened its lead back to three with two runs in the top of the third. The Pioneer offense kept the momentum in the bottom of the third with three runs to tie the game at five apiece.

Megan Aebersold and Krista DeBurger added back-to-back singles to start the inning putting two on base for the Pioneers. An error by Hanover's catcher advanced Aebersold and DeBurger to second and third, before Shelby Bailey drew a base on balls to load the bases.

Aebersold crossed the plate on a passed ball, moving Bailey and DeBurger as the Pioneers look to close in on the Hanover lead. Hulsman sent a grounder to the shortstop, DeBurger narrowing the Hanover lead to 5-4.

An erred throw by Hanover allowed Bailey to tie the game on a wild pitch nodding the score at five apiece at the end of three.

A lone run, however, in the top of the seventh helped the Panthers clip the Pioneers 7-6 in game one.

In Wednesday's second game, Hanover's five runs were enough to sweep the double header. The Pioneers added a run in the bottom of the sixth, but could not close in on the Hanover lead.

The Pioneers are back in action Thursday for a non-conference doubleheader against Wilmington College. Thursday's first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the second game to follow.
