Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Transylvania women’s soccer battles to scoreless draw at Earlham

Richmond, Ind. – The Transylvania women's soccer team battled to a double overtime 0-0 draw against the Earlham College Quakers on Wednesday afternoon at Darrell Beane Stadium.

The draw moves the Pioneers to 7-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play while the result moves the Quakers to 3-9-1 overall and 2-4-1 in HCAC contests.

The game began with an instant application of pressure from the Quakers. Morgan Patton was forced into action and made two saves within the first 13 minutes of the game. In an instant response, Abby Baker was denied by the Earlham goalkeeper and Meredith Campbell met the same fate in the 19th minute after her effort caromed off of the crossbar.

Transylvania flipped the game on its head in the second half and came out firing. Baker and Audrey Rawls paired up to provide the intensity and create chances in the early stages of the half. After a late surge from Baker and Meaghan Curren, followed by two more saves from the Earlham goalkeeper, overtime was imminent.

Both sides came close to a breakthrough in extra time as Allison O'Hara produced a great header that was parried away by the Quaker keeper 38 seconds into overtime. Rachel Green came close in the 101st minute and Patton collected a save in the 103rd minute, but the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Pioneers came alive in overtime as they outshot the Quakers 8-1 in the 20 minutes of additional play.

The Pioneers will stay on the road in their next fixture at Manchester University to take on the Spartans on Saturday, October 23. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Good Field.
