Box Score 2 On a sunny afternoon at Hall Field, the Pioneers faced off with the Hanover Panthers. The swept the Panthers with two wins, 4-3 and 2-1. They stole 10 bases on the day, led by senior Annie Shuck with three.
In game one, the Panthers got on the board first with a run in the top of the first, but the Pioneers got on the board in the bottom of the second starting with a leadoff walk for Carson Murray. After Murray stole second, Emilie Teall also earned a walk. Hadlee Carter laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Murray and Teall into scoring position with one out for Katie Mewes. Mewes came up with a beautiful 2RBI single into right center field scoring Murray and Teall to make it 2-1 for the lead.Â
Abby Frazier led off the third with a single to third base. Senior Taylor Senter sent a double over the right fielder to put two on for senior Annie Shuck. Shuck sent an RBI basehit to the left side of the infield to score Frazier and move Senter to third. Shuck stole second to give junior Stella Wulker two in scoring position. Wulker sent one up the middle for an RBI, scoring Senter and giving the Pioneers the 4-3 lead.Â
Though Ry'Ann Tharp sent a two out triple to the left field fence in the fourth and Hestand had a nice double to left center, the Pioneers finished the game with a 4-3 final. Junior Carlee Jeter is now 14-3 and had a season high seven strikeouts in game one. The first save of the year for Moshos as she came in during the seventh inning to finish it out.Â
For game two, Moshos stayed on the mound for the win with 14 strikeouts, another season high, now 10-6 on the year.Â
The Pioneers got on the board in the bottom of the first, starting with a single from Wulker. Mewes laid down a sacrifice bunt, but reached first on an error by third base giving two runners for Shuck. Shuck sent a shot up the middle to score both and pick up two more RBI on the day and give the Pioneers the 2-0 lead. They would take that lead to the end of the game for the final score of 2-1.Â
This Saturday they travel to Bluffton for another HCAC doubleheader with just two more remaining in the regular season.Â
